The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is one of the resources available to your local law enforcement agency during the investigation of both Non-Family and Family Child Abductions.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) – Emergency Notification and Tactical Alert Center (ENTAC) is the designated state coordinator for missing person alerts throughout California. ENTAC is staffed 24 hours a day by uniformed CHP personnel and is located at the CHP Headquarters in Sacramento, CA. The CHP is responsible for the activation of all alerts on behalf of investigating agencies in California’s municipalities, counties, and tribal communities. The investigating agency contacts the CHP and the details concerning the incident and the activation criteria are reviewed together. If all criteria are met, the CHP will identify the affected region and activate the appropriate alert on behalf of the investigating agency.
All law enforcement agencies have access to the State of California Missing Person Alert Plan and its resources.

The Missing and Unidentified Person Section (MUPS) is organizationally under the Justice Data and Investigative Services Bureau and assists law enforcement and criminal justice agencies in locating missing persons and identifying unknown live and deceased persons through the comparison of physical characteristics, fingerprints, and dental/body X–rays.

The Black and Missing Foundation, Inc. (BAMFI) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to bring awareness to missing persons of color; provide vital resources and tools to missing person's families and friends and to educate the minority community on personal safety.
BAMFI was founded in 2008 by experts in the fields of law enforcement and public relations; two vital areas of expertise needed to help bring awareness to and find those missing from our communities.BAMFI creates public awareness campaigns for public safety and provides parents and loved ones of missing persons with a forum for spreading the word of their disappearance, with pictures and profiles of missing individuals. BAMFI also utilizes a variety of media platforms, including print, television, radio, and social media, to help locate those missing.

The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation whose mission is to help find missing children, reduce child sexual exploitation, and prevent child victimization. NCMEC works with families, victims, private industry, law enforcement, and the public to assist with preventing child abductions, recovering missing children, and providing services to deter and combat child sexual exploitation.
