Course Overview:
This is an introductory team-focused training for individuals who conduct child abuse investigations, as part of a current or emerging Child Advocacy Center or Multi-Disciplinary Interview Team (CAC/MDIT) in California. Eligible participants include those in law enforcement, prosecution/county counsel, social services/CPS, mental health and medical-sexual assault examiners and victim witnesses.

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

  • Describe at least five examples of best practices used by multi-disciplinary centers and teams in the investigations of child abuse.
  • Summarize the priorities and timelines of other disciplines involved in a child abuse investigation, and how county protocol should accommodate these priorities and timelines.
  • Explain the 10-step interview protocol and its basis in research.

Continuing Education (CEC):
If you are interested in Continuing Education, payments will be accepted at the training for a fee of $45.
All attendees will receive a certificate of attendance. Participants may also apply for Continuing Education Credits after the event. Course meets qualifications for 8 hour(s) of Continuing Education Credits for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and/or LEPs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (Provider #128590). The Center for Innovation and Resources, Inc. (CIR) is approved by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists to sponsor continuing education for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and/or LEPs. CIR maintains responsibility for this program/course and its content. CE Credits will be available after the event for a fee of $45. Certificates for CE Credits will be mailed to participants within two weeks following the event. Minimum Continuing Legal Education (MCLE):
This course meets 5.5 hours of MCLE credit as required by the California State Bar (Provider #15175) and is available for a fee of $45.
