A Skill Enhancement Training on Familial and Non-Familial Abductions.
Course Overview: This basic training introduces participants to a multidisciplinary approach to assist professionals working within all facets of child abduction. This is an opportunity for county partners to increase their understanding of the roles of each agency and network with partner agencies toward a more coordinated response to missing and abducted children. It is suitable for: child abuse and abduction programs, child protective services, law enforcement officials, mental health professionals, non-profit organizations, prosecutors and investigators, sexual assault/domestic violence programs, victim-witnesses, and school personnel.
The goals of this training are to: increase awareness and ability to respond to child abduction, promote collaboration between agencies to develop a more coordinated response, and understand the importance each discipline plays in child abduction.
By the end of this training, participants will be able to:
- Determine the four criteria that must be met for issuing an AMBER Alert
- Describe the four common behavioral issues in young children post-abduction
- Distinguish the two exceptions to a parents’ constitutional right to due process in custody over their child
- Identify the four criteria that must be met for return in an international child abduction in the Hague Convention
- Describe with the four education codes relevant when dealing with a child abduction case
- Explain the 10 different categories of the Adverse Childhood Experiences Survey
This training is FREE OF CHARGE. Participants are responsible for travel, lodging, and all meal expenses. Lunch is NOT provided.
Continuing Education
All attendees will receive a certificate of attendance. Participants may also apply for Continuing Education Credits for $45 after the event when they fill out the follow-up survey. Course meets qualifications for 14 hours of Continuing Education Credits for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and/or LEPs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (Provider #128590). The Center for Innovation and Resources, Inc. (CIR) is approved by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists to sponsor continuing education for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and/or LEPs. CIR maintains responsibility for this program/course and its content. Certificates for CE Credits will be mailed to participants within two weeks following the event.
