Course Overview: 
This training will present best practices when locating and recovering abducted children pursuant to the Family Code, Criminal code, and the Hague Convention. Topics covered include the most efficient investigative tools and techniques, mandates of the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act (UCCJEA) with sample legal documents, using the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction with sample legal documents, and ethics and liability issues when working in this field. 

This training will be facilitated by: 

Jim Bacin, Deanne Castorena, Danielle Ponce De Leon, and others.

Intended Audience:

o   District Attorneys and District Attorney Investigators

o   Law Enforcement who work with District Attorneys and Child Abduction Units.


At the end of this training, participants will be able to:

  • Apply the most effective tools and techniques required to locate and recover abducted children.
  • Analyze ethics and liability conflicts during the investigation and perform in accordance with the law.
  • Assess sample legal documents presented in this training to inform future investigations in the field.

 

This course meets ­5 hour(s) of MCLE credit as required by the California State Bar (Provider #15175) and is available for a fee of $45.
