Course Description:

Participants will have an opportunity to participate in a discussion about child abduction cases with the California Child Abduction Task Force. They will be able to ask the panel about current cases they are working on and to discuss past cases they have worked on. Task Force members will also share lessons they have learned during the investigation and intervention of child abduction cases throughout their careers. This session is an interactive discussion, participants should come prepared to share a case they have worked on and/or to ask the multidisciplinary team members of the California Child Abduction Task Force questions regarding a child abduction investigation. Participants should watch the Roll Call Vignette Series unless they have attended a 2-day Child Abduction Training.

The Roll Call Vignette Series are short videos to be used for training during law enforcement roll call meetings. The videos focus on how to handle a call when police officers are dealing with a potential abduction by a family member. Each video provides a brief overview of situations police officers may encounter when responding to a child abduction call and the resources available to help law enforcement with these cases.

  • The videos are between 5-12-minutes long each and cover the following topics: International Abduction, Child Protective Services, and the Courts, FBI Resources, First Responders, Working with Schools, and Child Reunification.
  • The videos can be accessed online at:
