LIVE SESSION: June 18, 2020 at 10:00am (PST)

Session Overview

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is the statewide coordinator for the AMBER Alert, Silver Alert, Endangered Missing Advisory, and Blue Alert.  The CHP is a national leader for the application of the Wireless Emergency Alert in emergency alerts.  This course will provide a brief description, capabilities, and process of the WEA.  It will also review what to expect when an alert has been activated.  Is there a time frame when a WEA would be most and least effective?  How do you deal with negative feedback?  The focus of the discussion will be from the perspective of Detectives and District Attorney employees.

By the end of this webinar, participants will develop strategies to take back to their home agencies and will be able to:

  • Identify the WEA capabilities
  • Determine which areas are activated
  • Discuss the process to close out an alert
  • Clarify what information is required
  • Understand if the WEA carries evidentiary value
