Frequently Asked Questions

Below are the questions most often asked. If you have a question not answered here please email us.

How do I create a CalTiCA account?

To create an account please go to the CalTICA Learning Hub and click on the signup link on the top right of the page. You will be asked to enter your credentials and create an account. Afterwards, you can begin learning right away by picking and choosing which module you want to take.

Watch a tutorial with instructions for creating an account and getting started with the Learning Hub.

How do I log into a course?

After creating an account or exiting out of the learning hub you can log in any time by clicking login and entering your username and password.

Which course should I take first?

We recommend that you begin with the Overview Module, which provides a comprehensive overview of the neurobiology of trauma. If you wish to expand your baseline understanding of trauma-informed care you can continue with Historical and Impact. However, you can pick and choose which module you want to take first.

How do I begin a course?

After signing up choose the course you want to take and click the Get this course button. You will be directed to the course overview. You will be asked to take a pre-quiz before you can enter the course player and begin the module.

If I already know quite a lot about trauma and how it affects the brain, can I just take the specific course that pertains to my profession?

Yes, our learning management system will not prevent you from taking a specific module, although we highly recommend taking the first three modules to gain a thorough understanding of providing trauma-informed care.

How can I get a certificate of completion?

You can get a certificate of completion when you complete a core module and/or a discipline-focused module. If you want a certificate of completion, demonstrating that you have a full baseline understanding of trauma-informed care you will need to complete all three core modules: Overview, Historical, and Impact. If you’ve completed all three core modules please contact caltica@cirinc.org to request a special Certificate of Core Knowledge.

Can I get CEUs for completing a CalTICA course?

Yes. Continuing education credit is available for each core module for MFTs and LCSWs licensed in California. More information and instructions for requesting CEUs.

Do you offer any other education credits?

Yes. Our Legal Module offers MCLE credit (Minimum Continuing Legal Education) for attorneys practicing in California. We are now also offering CME credit (Continuing Medical Education) for Physicians and nurses in California with our Module for Healthcare Professionals!
