Supporting an individual who has experienced abuse can be a lot to take on. Refer to the following resources to understand how to best support your close community:

Gay Straight Alliance Network aims to unite trans and queer youth for racial and gender justice.

Community United Against Violence aims to build strong communities united in support of LGBTQ rights.

The Family Acceptance Project is a community research, intervention and training initiative that studies the impact of family acceptance and rejection on health, mental health and the well-being of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) youth.

The Trevor Project is a national 24-hour, toll free and confidential suicide hotline for gay and questioning youth.

For those struggling to understand their loved ones, www.transstudent.org/gender is a clever way to support youth by educating members of your community.
