The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is the statewide coordinator for the AMBER Alert, Silver Alert, Endangered Missing Advisory, and Blue Alert. The CHP is a national leader for the application of the Wireless Emergency Alert in emergency alerts. This course will provide a brief description, capabilities, and process of the WEA. It will also review what to expect when an alert has been activated. The focus of the discussion will be from the perspective of the first responders.
By the end of this webinar, participants will develop strategies to take back to their home agencies and will be able to:
- Identify the WEA capabilities
- Determine when to call CHP
- Discuss the process when calling
- Clarify what information is required
- Understand what to expect
