Welcome to CalTiCA

The California Trauma-Informed Care Academy (CalTiCA) is made up of courses designed to provide a baseline on the neurobiology of trauma and best practices for multidisciplinary professional. The modules are free and available online around the clock through an easy-to-use platform.

Who should take the course?

Anybody can take the course. CalTiCA courses are free and available 24/7.

How to take the course

This initial course is designed as three core modules and eight modules with information specific to certain disciplines. The core modules are: 1) Overview 2) Historical and Cultural Trauma and 3) Impact, which features the stories of survivors. To sign up for the course click here and select signup on the top right.

Length of modules

The modules are designed to be approximately 60-90 minutes in length, though your time may vary.


Each module includes a quiz that will help us measure knowledge before and after you complete the module. You are not expected to know the answers before taking the module. Once you have completed the module, you will need a score of 80% to receive a certificate of attendance.


A certificate of attendance is available once you have completed the three core modules. Individual certificates for each discipline-specific module will also be available.

CEUs for MFTs and LCSWs

At this time we only offer CEUs for MFTs and LCSWs. We will be pursuing credit for the discipline-specific modules as appropriate once they are available. If you are an MFT or LCSW and would like to receive CEU credit, CLICK HERE
